The Proof is in the Smoothie

Ever wonder if Social Selling really works? Like, if you can really sell through Social Networks without face-to-face traditional dealing kinda thing? You bet! So, to those who are trying, hear me, just keep on keeping on! Persistence is a good virtue J

Let me share my experience.

It was after my 48th tweeting attempt (or Social Selling if you’d call it) that I stumbled upon a certain Bryan Flynn who wanted a Vitamix! Yes, that’s the product I’m selling – Vitamix (one of the best, if not the best, blending machines in whole wide world). And Bryan ended up buying it J

How it came about? Here's a short story:
  • First, I received an email from NetBase Insight Alerts about Bryan Flynn wanting a Vitamix. Here’s a screenshot of the email:

  • I, then, clicked the Twitter link specified on the email alert to see and respond to Bryan’s need of a Vitamix. Here’s a screenshot of our exchanges (Note: @BeerNChickn was used to be personally named after Bryan Flynn, now it’s Team Beer-N-Chicken and @FlipItToHigh is the Twitter handle I’m using for Vitamix Social Selling):

  • Then after a week from our last conversation, we were notified that Bryan was already following us on Twitter using his personal handle.

  • Then, lo and behold, after a month from my last tweet to Bryan, we received a notification from Vitamix that Bryan actually bought one! Yay! Here’s a screenshot of the check we received as a proof of his purchase:

$83.10 for 1 unit of Vitamix sold! Not bad, right? J

So, wondering now how in the world I received that email alert in the first place? That email alert where I saw Bryan’s tweet about wanting a Vitamix and where I was able to offer and finally close the deal?

Good questions!

Here are the tools I used that helped me made it:
  • NetBase Insight Composer – I use this platform to allow me to search for people who are mentioning Vitamix and other equivalent terms for Vitamix. Here’s my actual setup:

  • NetBase Insight Alerts – This tool allows me to get email alerts whenever the topic I setup in NetBase Insight Composer gets results. This specific setup narrows down those who said they "want" Vitamix or the other equivalent terms for a Vitamix:

  • Gmail – This is the email service provider I use to get the email alerts
  • Twitter – This is where I usually do the Social Selling itself

So there you go. A message to those concerned - there’s money in Social Selling! Try it now J
